Spaying and neutering

Spaying and neutering your pets is the most critical part of keeping dog and cat populations at a healthy level. DAWG routinely hosts low-cost spay and neuter clinics in the Costa Ballena area to help families with limited resources be able to spay and neuter their pets.

These clinics are specifically for lower-income families who cannot otherwise afford to have their pets spayed or neutered and so would not do so without this service. DAWG suggests a small donation for spay and neuter services, but families will not be turned away if they cannot afford the suggested donation.

Why is spaying and neutering important?

As the saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."  Animals that are not spayed or neutered can reproduce exponentially.  This results in more stray, abandoned, and neglected animals.  Rescue groups and shelters cannot keep up with the number of homeless, injured, or unwanted animals.  The only solution to this problem is to keep dog and cat populations in check through spay and neuter.
